Forward Deployed Engineer Intern
About Lunar
Lunar is an applied AI lab engineering the next generation of human-machine coordination. We build agents that reason, act, and physically verify that real-world work actually got done. Our first product is Morsa, an autonomous chief of staff for manufacturing. The team is small and the bar is high.
The role
A Forward Deployed Engineer works where the problem is. As our FDE intern you will embed on-site with a manufacturing customer, stand up Lunar's agents against their real and messy data, and write the integration, ingest, and evaluation code that makes them work in production.
This is one customer and many capabilities, not one capability for many customers. You will scope solutions where the work happens, sit with the people who run the line, and carry what you learn straight back to the founders building the product.
What you will do
- Own the deployment of Lunar's agents at a manufacturing customer, end to end.
- Build the ingest, retrieval, and integration code that connects our agents to a plant's existing and often legacy systems.
- Write evaluation harnesses that prove an agent is right before anyone relies on it.
- Sit with operators and engineers on the floor, turn what you hear into requirements, and ship fixes in days, not weeks.
- Carry field signal back to the founders and shape what we build next.
What we look for
- You have built and shipped something real, and you can show it to us. Put your independent projects, open source, or side work at the top.
- You can go deep on at least one of backend systems, data pipelines, or applied ML. You do not need all three.
- You have a bias toward action and you are comfortable with ambiguity and incomplete information.
- You can be credible with engineers and clear with the people who run a factory.
- We care about your trajectory and what you can build, not your degree or where you studied.
What you will learn
- How to turn an ambiguous, real-world problem into working software, fast.
- What it actually takes to put AI into a physical, high-stakes environment.
- How a small team ships, working directly with both founders.
The basics
- A 3-month, full-time summer internship.
- In person, based in Gurgaon, India, and on-site with the customer. This is not a remote role.
- A monthly stipend of ₹1,00,000 to ₹2,00,000.
- Interns who do exceptional work receive a full-time offer.
How to apply
Apply through the form. Keep it simple: your details, your resume, and links to what you have made. Use AI tools if you like, we do, but the judgment has to be yours.
We review applications on a rolling basis.
